Parkside Drive Shoplifters Identified
The names of the three women arrested yesterday in West Knox County for shoplifting and running from officers and causing multiple wrecks have been identified. Dayzjuana Caldwell, 19, from Nashville is in the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility charged with theft and two counts of aggravated assault. Her bond is $70,000. Tangaletta Clark, 19 from Murfreesboro was charged with theft and released on a $10,000 bond. Stephanie Howard, 19 from Nashville, was charged with theft and released on a $10,000 bond.
According to reports, the three women shoplifted approximately $2,400 in merchandise from Belk department store located at 11397 Parkside Drive. As they left the store shortly before 1 p.m., they saw KCSO Officer Chris Allison approaching them and ran to their Dodge Caliber that was parked in front of the store. Officer Allison, Captain Gary Parker, and Lieutenant David Amburn approached the vehicle and told the suspects to get out of the car. They refused and the driver, Caldwell, also refused commands to turn off the engine. Instead she sped to another parking space. Officer Allison used his ASP (tactical baton) and broke out the driver’s door window and attempted to turn off the car and to physically remove the suspect. With the upper half of the officer’s body in the car, Caldwell put the car in reverse and sped backwards placing the officer in fear of injury or death. Caldwell backed into the original parking space, put the car in drive and sped forward striking Captain’s Parker’s left knee. Captain Parker fired his county issued service weapon one time, striking the rear window of the suspects’ vehicle. After a short vehicle pursuit and a foot pursuit, the three suspects were taken into custody.
During the incident, seven cars, including one KCSO cruiser were damaged. The officer in the KCSO car was treated and released at a local hospital for minor injuries.
