Knoxville Man Arrested on Rape of a Child Charges

A Knoxville man was arrested this afternoon after being indicted by a Knox County Grand Jury. 33-year-old James Alonso was taken into custody just before 3:00 p.m. in Oak Ridge by the Knox County Sheriff's Office Criminal Warrants Division and the U.S. Marshals Service-led Smoky Mountains Fugitive Task Force. The indictments were handed down following an investigation led by KCSO's Family Crisis Unit. Alonso is charged with multiple counts of rape of a child and aggravated sexual battery. He will be held in the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility on a $50,000 bond. The KCSO Family Crisis Unit investigates cases involving domestic violence, child abuse, elder abuse, animal abuse, and cyber investigations.
