One Dead Following Farragut Paraglider Crash

One person is dead following yesterday’s paraglider crash in Farragut. 58-year-old Stanley Decoursey of Powell, the pilot of the paraglider, was pronounced dead at UT Medical Center on Sunday. His passenger, 54-year-old Kenneth Atkins of Knoxville, remains in UT Medical Center.

According to the initial investigation, their paraglider crashed into the woods north of 11322 Barharbor Way just after 4:00 p.m. Decoursey was taken to UT Medical Center by Rural Metro. Atkins was flown by Lifestar to UT Medical Center. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
