Vehicle Identification Set for Saturday

Wednesday, 12 July 2017

Got 10 minutes?  That’s all it takes to protect your car from being stolen and it’s free!  For the 24th year, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters have partnered to offer Operation Vehicle I.D.

On Saturday, July 15th from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the lot across the street from Toyota of Knoxville on Parkside Drive, you can have the (VIN) number permanently etched into your vehicle’s windshield and windows.  The number is placed in a discreet location and does not harm the glass.

VIN etching can be a significant deterrent to vehicle thefts.  Thieves will often bypass a car that has been marked this way because it can be traced quickly. The Knox County Sheriff’s Office reports that approximately 350-400 vehicles are stolen each year.   If you can spare a few minutes, you can make sure your car doesn’t become a statistic.
