Three KCSO Officers Commended by Knox County Juvenile Court

Thursday, 11 January 2018

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office congratulates three of its officers who were recognized by the Knox County Juvenile Court for exemplary service.

On January 2nd, a mentally-disturbed individual attempted to gain entry into the Juvenile Court complex while in possession of a loaded semi-automatic handgun. Officer Mark King identified the individual’s suspicious behavior before he entered the building and calmly took control of the situation. He restrained and disarmed the individual within seconds.

Detectives Caswill Clark and Anthony Riddle dedicated countless hours to locate and help a severely mentally ill drug-addicted youth who was avoiding necessary mental health treatment. Judge Timothy Irwin wrote that absent their efforts, “I am certain a young life would have become irretrievably damaged or lost.”

Officer King has been with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office since October 2000, Detective Clark since November 2000, and Detective Riddle since April 2010.
