Attempted Robbery Suspect in Jail

The Major Crimes Unit of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI Safe Street Task Force took an attempted armed robbery suspect into custody on Friday.  Randy Woody, 50, was arrested without incident in the 2500 block of Maryville Pike.  He is the suspect in the January 26 attempted robbery of the Dollar General Store at 3130 Circle Oak Drive where he pulled a gun on a clerk and demanded money.   When she refused, he struck her multiple times with a weapon.  The suspect also stuck the weapon in a customer’s face and then struck him with the weapon.  During a struggle, the suspect dropped the gun and fled the scene in a car.

Woody is being held in the Knox County Jail with a $35,000 bond.  He has a criminal history in Knox County that includes homicide, kidnapping, robbery, and burglary.
