The Family Crisis Unit of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office has investigated and charged an East Knox County man with multiple charges after he picked up a woman he had dated for a week and took her back to his house where he assaulted her.  Jason Copley, 40, is charged with rape, aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping, and two counts of felony possession of a firearm.  He is being held at the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility on a $250,000 bond.  The victim said he drove her to his house on Old Rutledge Pike Saturday afternoon where he took her cell phone and refused to let her leave.  He produced a gun, then hit her multiple times, threw her on the floor, choked her until she couldn’t breathe and then raped her.

Copley has an extensive criminal history in Knox County, Anderson County, and Detroit, Michigan involving aggravated assault, kidnapping, DUI, and arson.
