The Knox County Sheriff’s Office congratulates March 2018’s Detective of the Month, Keith McFarland.

On March 5th, Detective McFarland responded to a bank on Andrew Johnson Highway to investigate a robbery. He and the FBI Safe Streets task Force identified a suspect.  Detective McFarland then initiated the investigative step that led to the arrest of the suspect and his accomplice, and also recovered crucial evidence.

On March 17th, Detective McFarland responded to another robbery that occurred at a gas station on Oak Ridge Highway. During the investigation, he identified and apprehended the suspect. He also identified and secured evidence in the case.

While investigating the March 17th robbery, Detective McFarland responded to the victim of a shooting that ended with a wrecked vehicle. He worked the initial scene, and information was given to patrol units about the suspect, who was located and taken into custody. Detective McFarland obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s vehicle and located evidence related to the shooting.

Detective McFarland’s attention to detail resulted in the successful apprehension of three violent offenders in a short period of time, as well as evidence that will lead to successful prosecution in these cases. 

 

Detective McFarland has been with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office since September 2008.
