KCSO Graduates 28 Recruits This Friday at Clear Springs Baptist Church

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office Regional Training Academy will graduate 28 recruits during a special ceremony on Friday, May 25th at 10 a.m. at Clear Springs Baptist Church, located at 7350 Tazewell Pike in Corryton. The keynote speaker is 2018 Tennessee gubernatorial candidate Diane Black.

Recruits received 543 hours of intense training during the 12 weeks to meet the criteria set by Training (P.O.S.T.) and the Peace Officers Standards. Among their training was learning arrest procedures and the law, and developing expertise in firearms, driving, and defensive tactics.

19 of the recruits are from Knox County. One is from Claiborne County, two are from Monroe County, two are from the Harriman Police Department, one is from Putnam County, and three are from Tipton County.  Five outstanding recruits will be recognized for their achievements with the Physical Fitness award, the Mark Currier Award for Courage, Academic Honors, Firearms Proficiency, and Overall Excellence.

The Training Academy was established in 1996 and has since graduated hundreds of recruits.
