Free Vehicle Identification Set for Saturday

Friday, 03 August 2018

On Saturday, August 4th from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the lot across from Toyota of Knoxville on Parkside Drive, you can have the (VIN) number permanently etched into your vehicle’s windshield and windows for free. The number is placed in a discreet location and does not harm the glass. This is the 25th year that the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters have partnered to offer Operation Vehicle I.D.

VIN etching, a process that only takes about ten minutes, can be a significant deterrent to vehicle thefts. Thieves will often bypass a car that has been marked this way because it can be traced quickly. The Knox County Sheriff’s Office reports that approximately 350-400 vehicles are stolen each year.
