KCSO Arrests Attempted Aggravated Robbery Suspect

A man wanted for attempting to rob a Knox County business was arrested late Friday night. The Knox County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division made a traffic stop around 10:30 p.m. and took 50-year-old Ricky Lewis of Knoxville into custody. KCSO's Major Crimes Unit had charged Lewis with attempted aggravated robbery for an incident that occurred at the Dollar General, located at 2725 Shipetown Road, earlier Friday afternoon. He entered the store, placed items for purchase on the counter, and, instead of paying, produced a note that made a demand for money and indicated that he had a firearm. He also placed his hand under his jacket as if he had a firearm under his clothing.

Lewis is also charged with driving on a suspended license. He is being held in the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility on a combined $21,000 bond. He has a criminal history in Knox County that includes promotion of methamphetamine, manufacture and initiation of manufacture of methamphetamine; public intoxication; theft by shoplifting; vandalism; domestic assault; aggravated burglary; driving under the influence; initiation of process to manufacture methamphetamine; promote manufacture of methamphetamine; evading arrest; implied consent; disorderly conduct; public order crimes; liquor; and burglary.
