KCSO, KPD and THP Saturate School Zones

Friday, 14 September 2018

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office along with the Knoxville Police Department and the Tennessee Highway Patrol saturated every school zone Friday morning with patrols as they enforced traffic laws.  In 2 hours, officers had issued 136 citations.  One hundred of those were for speeding and cell phone use.  One was arrested for driving on a suspended license.  The goal of today’s enforcement is to see how volunteer compliance has been going during the first part of this school year.  Officers want to send the message to stay off your phone, buckle up, and obey the speed limit.  We all want a safe school year for our students.  The media turned out to hear Sgt. Tim Belcher talk today’s saturation patrol with officers from all three agencies in the background.
