West Knox Incident

January 30, 2025 – Active Law Enforcement Response at Westland Drive Weigel’s – The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is currently on the scene of an active incident at the Weigel’s located on Westland Drive. – At approximately 10:20 p.m., deputies responded to reports of a possibly suicidal male armed with a shotgun in or around the business. Upon arrival, deputies secured the immediate area and requested additional specialized units. – The Knox County Sheriff’s Office Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team and Crisis Negotiations Unit are on scene and actively working to bring this situation to a safe and peaceful resolution. Negotiators are in contact with the individual and are attempting to de-escalate the situation. – The area around the business has been secured, and there is no known threat to the general public at this time. However, members of the public are asked to avoid the area and to follow law enforcement directions due to the ongoing nature of the incident and to allow first responders to work safely. – No injuries have been reported at this time.
