The Knox County Sheriff’s Office Transportation Unit is responsible for safely and securely transporting those in our custody. The transportation division runs 7 days a week 24 hours a day. They transport inmates to and from court, to medical appointments, pick up inmates from other county agencies and transport inmates to and from prison as well as assisting patrol with new transporting arrestees to the Roger D Wilson Detention Facility for process.
Even when traveling, those in custody need to be placed in an area that provides safety and security.
With the amount of traveling required, skill and experience to operate our vehicles is essential. Officers work together to complete the travel, and find places to secure the vehicles and individuals in them.
