The Knox County Sheriff Office was honored to assist The Wheeler Academy with the recent Knox County 4-H “Bringing Camp Home” program
Each year, Knox County 4-h invites local youth to an overnight camp where they learn new skills and have fun.
Due to the recent pandemic, the kids were unable to go to camp so,Ā Ā Ā 4-H decided to Bring Camp Home!!!
Utilizing the Brehm Animal Science Building, 4-H was able to hold a daily camp and provide many of the same activities present during the overnight camp.
The Wheeler Academy, a local martial arts school, along with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office taught the 4-H members tips and tactics for self defense.Ā Ā
Black Belt Youth Instructor Garrett Nokes and Officer McMahan teamed up to give a fun and rewarding presentation to help build confidence and understanding of self defense situations.
Mr. Nokes specializes in helping youth better themselves and is perfect at helping them understand the techniques he demonstrates.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank 4-H and The Wheeler AcademyĀ for allowing us to work with them to help bring fun, educational, and safe programming to the youth of Knox County!!!
The Knox County 4-H program is part of the UT Extension office located downtown in Knoxville, TN.Ā Ā
4-H seeks to help youth in the region with after school programming, clubs, groups, and utilizes a method of learning by allowing the youth to actually perform that which they are learning about.
Located in Powell, The Wheeler Academy is one of the most well known martial arts schools in the region.Ā
Aspiring to help individuals become stronger physically, mentally, and spiritually, Wheelers has taught literally thousands of students over the years.Ā Ā
