KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. — September 3, 2026 —

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office has apprehended Lee “Matthew” Wolfe of Knox County following an ongoing search connected to yesterday’s arson investigation.

A BOLO was issued for Wolfe after he allegedly fled the scene on two separate occasions following a domestic dispute. Warrants were subsequently obtained, and members of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office continued working to locate him.

Members of KCSO Echo Shift remained diligent in the search this morning. At approximately 10:48 a.m. today, Officer Kaleb Lee located Wolfe at the Hampton Inn in the Executive Park area.

Upon contact with deputies, Wolfe was armed with a knife, resulting in a brief standoff. Deputies worked to bring the situation to a safe conclusion, and Wolfe was ultimately taken into custody by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office without further incident.

Sheriff Brent Gibson commends the members of Echo Shift for their persistence and professionalism in locating and apprehending the suspect. Their work demonstrates the commitment of KCSO personnel to following an investigation through and working together to protect the citizens of Knox County.
