Updates on COVID-19 as it relates to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office

-The Knox County Sheriff’s Office Senior Citizen Awareness Network volunteers also known as SCAN have been asked to discontinue their home visits to the elderly.  Most of those volunteers are senior citizens themselves.  Sheriff Spangler is taking the steps necessary to reduce exposure for both groups by discontinuing the visits.  Instead of in person visits the volunteers are contacting their recipients by phone.  If there is a need, one of our Special Services Officers will address the need or refer it to the appropriate agency.

-The Citizens Academy originally scheduled to begin April 9, 2020 has been postponed until the fall.  The date will be announced at a later time.  Applicants that have already applied, will not need to submit another application.
