Vandalism Investigation

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office Juvenile Crimes Unit is seeking information regarding a felony vandalism that resulted in several thousand dollars in damage to the campus of Farragut High School.

On September 30th, 2025, between the hours of 11:30 PM and Midnight, six unknown white male suspects entered onto the campus and spray-painted multiple facilities, signs, and roadways surrounding the football complex.

The suspects, all wearing masks that covered their faces, entered the campus on foot from West End Avenue and walked to the area where the vandalism occurred.

The suspects then left campus by climbing the fence along Lendon Welch Way and running back towards West End Avenue. Detectives believe the suspects parked a vehicle at a business on West End Avenue and entered campus on foot to avoid the vehicle being captured on school security footage.

This vandalism occurred three days prior to the Hardin Valley Academy VS Farragut football game, and the initials HVA were spray-painted in numerous locations around the campus.

On July 20, 1985 the burned body of Betty Joyce Brown,aka Simmons, was found in the woods at 3805 Maloney Road in South Knox County. The 29 year old Austin-East graduate had been stabbed before being burned. Ms. Brown was last seen on July 14, 1985 between midnight and 1:00am in front of the Bread Box at Magnolia Ave and Spruce Street. It is believed that Ms. Brown was offered and accepted a ride from an unknown subject. Ms. Brown’s last know address was 2737 Tarleton Ave. Initial investigation indicated that when Ms. Brown’s body was found, she had been dead approximately 1 week. Family members described Ms. Brown as being a “very sweet and loving mother.”
