Man with face tattoos in back seat and "In Custody"

On November 9, 2021, at approximately 1615 hours, deputies with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office observed a suspicious vehicle traveling on Cedar Bluff near Sherrill Boulevard. A routine registration check revealed the affixed license plate did not belong to the vehicle in question. An officer-initiated traffic stop subsequently resulted in the driver fleeing from deputies.

Momentarily thereafter, the vehicle’s driver failed to yield the right-of-way of other traffic within the intersection of Dutchtown Road at Cedar Bluff, thus consequently striking three vehicles at the traffic signal. Efforts to apprehend the subject—later identified as Cory J. Lampson—were successful, and the individual was taken into custody without further incident.

Mr. Lampson was transported to the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility, where he will await arraignment for new charges along with additional outstanding warrants that were on file for

—Capias: Manufacture/sell of fentanyl (bond $50,000)

—VOP: Felony Theft (bond denied)

—VOP: Felony Theft (bond denied)

*more charges coming from incident today.

One individual from the crash was transported to an area hospital for observations.
