Joshua Bailey, 23 has been charged with the following:

The investigation is ongoing.
UPDATE TWO- 7:40 PM
-Detectives are continuing to interview witnesses at this hour. From the preliminary investigation, the suspects and the victim know each other and have a history. Therefore, we want to make the public aware this incident was isolated. The Knox County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives appreciate all the witnesses who remained on the scene and patiently waited to be interviewed. In addition, Sheriff Spangler and Chief Deputy Lyon want to thank our law enforcement partners who came to assist our Patrol Officers and Detectives and help ensure the safety of our innocent citizens- The Knoxville Police Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and Homeland Security Knoxville Office.
We will soon provide the names of anyone charged in the incident and a list of charges.

-TWO SUSPECTS ARE IN CUSTODY-
The scene is secure. However, Detectives are asking the public to avoid the area while they continue their investigation. This appears to be an isolated incident.

ACTIVE SCENE IN HALLS AT WALMART
What we know at this time- One person was shot with what appears to be a non-life-threatening injury. At least two individuals have been detained.

On July 20, 1985 the burned body of Betty Joyce Brown,aka Simmons, was found in the woods at 3805 Maloney Road in South Knox County. The 29 year old Austin-East graduate had been stabbed before being burned. Ms. Brown was last seen on July 14, 1985 between midnight and 1:00am in front of the Bread Box at Magnolia Ave and Spruce Street. It is believed that Ms. Brown was offered and accepted a ride from an unknown subject. Ms. Brown’s last know address was 2737 Tarleton Ave. Initial investigation indicated that when Ms. Brown’s body was found, she had been dead approximately 1 week. Family members described Ms. Brown as being a “very sweet and loving mother.”
