-ATTENTION SENIOR CITIZEN COMMUNITY-
Sheriff Tom Spangler is asking that our senior citizens be aware of various scams currently circulating in Knox County and surrounding counties.
One scam particularly is targeting seniors saying that their loved one has been arrested and is unable to call for bail money.
The Scammer(s) are using a lot of “legal terminology” as to make themselves sound more official!
Sheriff Spangler wants to make it clear that at NO TIME will anyone from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office call to “get bail money” for an inmate. Additionally, Attorney’s will not call you and have you get bail money either.
If you know a senior, please reach out and check on them. Please take a minute to make them aware of scammers, and let them know it is okay to SAY NO and HANG UP on a potential scammer. Also, if they have any questions or would like to report suspicious activity they can call 865-215-2243.
If you or someone you know may have been a victim to this or any other scam please contact a Detective at the same number listed above.
