Fatal Accident Investigation Update

On April 13, 2020 the Knoxville Police Department was pursuing two suspects who were believed to be responsible for a shooting that occurred on April 7, 2020. The vehicle, a black 2008 Honda FIT was being driven by Napoleon J. Moore DOB 11/01/2000 of Knoxville, the owner of the vehicle was a passenger and also a suspect in the shooting, she is identified as Savanna M. Howard DOB 06/06/2001 of Maynardville.

The suspect vehicle entered the intersection of Clinton Highway and West Emory Road and struck another vehicle that was attempting to cross Clinton Highway on West Emory Road. The suspect driving the fleeing vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The second suspect/passenger was transported to a local hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was also transported for evaluation of what too appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

Both suspects had warrants on file at the time of the incident. The Knox County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit was responsible for the crash investigation.
