Sheriff Tom Spangler has confirmed that as of this afternoon on April 17, 2020 Assistant Chief David Henderson’s status has changed. Assistant Chief Henderson is now retired from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. His request for retirement was placed on April 10, 2020 and was finalized this afternoon.
Additionally, Assistant Chief Henderson was relieved of his responsibilities within the Narcotics Unit in January 2019 by Chief Deputy Lyon. On October 14, 2019 Assistant Chief Henderson was reassigned the Special Services Unit and has been in that role until present.
Sheriff Spangler wants to reiterate that he will not be able to answer any questions or make any additional comments pertaining to the investigation and that the matter being investigated was prior to his administration.
