Update on the potential threat at Karns High School on Friday, February 11, 2022. Juvenile Detectives with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office spent the day interviewing students and faculty regarding the allegations that there was potentially a weapon on school property connected to the incident between two students that occurred off-campus on February 10, 2022.
Detectives, along with KCSO K-9 Units, located three toy pistols in a student’s vehicle. No other weapons were found.
The school was placed on lockdown while the interviews and searches were conducted.

This morning Juvenile Detectives with the Knox County Sheriff’s were called to Karns High School for a potential threat stemming from an overnight investigation involving two Karns High Students.
As a precaution the school was placed on Lockdown. We will update all of you if there is any credibility to the threat. As of this hour they have not found anything to substantiate it.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience while we conduct a thorough investigation. We take every threat seriously, and appreciate the cooperation of the school.” -Tom Spangler, Sheriff
