At approximately 0926 on 8-16-20 dispatch bolo’ed an attempted 10-52 of the dollar tree on Heiskell Ave. The suspect was reported to have a sawed off shotgun and after exiting the store the suspect stole a vehicle (maroon Ford Taurus with an Oklahoma tag) by force.
At approximately 1054 hours K9 Officer Lynam was assisting THP with a 10-53 on Clinton Hwy near W. Beaver Creek. Officer Lynam observed the vehicle on Clinton Hwy and attempted a traffic stop, the suspect fled. Officers Watkins and Coons joined the pursuit.
The suspect vehicle wrecked and came to a stop at the dead end of Verton Dr.. The suspect fled again on foot into the woods long I-75. Officer Lynam deployed his K9 Partner (Reggie) and tracked the suspect. Officers Lynam, Watkins, and Coons were able to to take the suspect into custody without further incident along side I-75. Officer were able to recover the suspects backpack in the high grass along the wood line. Inside the backpack the modified (sawed off) .22 rifle (believed to have been used in the earlier 10-52) and .22 ammo was located.
Officer Lynam, Officer Watkins, and Officer Coons performed at an outstanding level in performance of their duty.
