On February 16, 2022, at approximately 9:30 am, Knox County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to a suspicious persons/vehicle near Lexington Drive in West Knox County. The suspects were sleeping in the vehicle. Both suspects failed to adhere to verbal commands by the deputies. The female passenger attempted to grab the deputy’s service weapon, the suspect in the driver’s seat attempted to run over the deputy, the deputy fired his weapon.
The suspects fled in the vehicle striking a Ford F-250 continued striking two additional vehicles before fleeing on foot. Both suspects were captured after a short foot pursuit.
The male suspect was transported to a local hospital with what appears to be non-life-threatening injuries. The Deputies were not injured. The name of the suspects and charges will be forthcoming.
As with all Officer-involved shootings (OIS), The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) will handle the investigation and all subsequent statements.
